jump the gun
I was just looking for Beatles related things on Tumblr and found this.
and found very interesting too! and now I’M with that line in my head.
“She’s not a girl who misses much…”
For those of you who did not immediately sing along “do do do do do do, ohhh yeah,” that’s the first line of “Happiness Is A Warm Gun” by the Beatles.
One of the Beatles books I read recently described what this song was about and in that line, John was trying to describe a girl who he thought was very smart and sharp. Someone from their crew said that their father would refer to smart girls as girls who “didn’t miss much,” and John liked that, therefore putting it in the song.
It stuck with me, and I’ve been bouncing around that line in my head for the past couple days.
I really like that expression; I think that’s a clever way to describe someone, and the meaning of it gave me a different perspective.
You know how parents and grandparents have those phrases that they always say? They just have their sayings, their “ism’s?” I could totally picture someone’s dad or someone’s grandpa saying that. “She’s not a girl who misses much.”
Gave a new perspective on the song, you know? A different connotation, different feeling to the line.
An alternate way of thinking.
And I liked it.
just felt like putting that out there, maybe someone else in the tumblr universe will find it interesting, too.
